DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fairfield Police Take Down Sign That Offended Citizen

1:58pm--#Fairfield CT--A Lakeview Court resident called police that a sign on Black Rock Turnpike was "offensive" to him.  The sign was for a gun safety class hosted by Safe and Secure Training (SafeandSecureTraining.com).  The sign was taken down by police.    I interviewed First Selectman Micahel Tetreau about this back in July of 2014.  He said  “We value the look of our community” and that the signs are in fact illegal but “We don't have the labor to enforce it as much as we like”.    A year later if you look around town you will still see the same street spam by the same offenders.    Tetreau continued  “we need to look for a better way” but with the precedent…

Fairfield News: Kayak Adrift

4:12pm--#Fairfield CT #Southport CT-- A kayak was found drifting in Long Island Sound and called in by resident towards the end of Fairfield Beach Road.  Fairfield Firefighters lead by Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola had Marine 228 and 217 launch.  Marine 217 located the 12 foot one person kayak about 400 feet from shore.  A search was conducted and Coast Guard was called in.  After a search of the contents inside the kayak it was determined that there was no one in the boat.  As protocol the Coast Guard did a sweep of the area.

Westport News: Pool Contractor Arrest

Warrant Arrest: On Wednesday November 18th, 2015 the accused turned himself into the Westport Police Department after learning that there was a warrant for his arrest. The arrest stems from a larceny complaint received on September 18th, 2015. The complainant alleges that he had hired CT Windows and Sunrooms LLC back in December 2014 to reconstruct his pool roof and paid $5000 upfront as part of the contract agreement. From December 2014 to September 2015 no work was completed or attempted by the contractor. The complainant had requested his money back from the owner/contractor, which the suspect failed to do. Arrested was Noah Cifarelli (age 58) of East Haven Connecticut   Cifarelli was charged with Larceny 3rd C.G.S 53a-124,  Failure to Refund Demand 10 days C.G.S 20-247(b)(8),  Failure…
