DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Firefighters Respond To Two Calls

5:50pm--#Bridgeport CT--Two seem to be the magic number first for police covering two accidents at the same time, now two calls for firefighters at the same time.  First call was for 73 Eaton Street where firefighters found food burning on the stove but no fire extending anywhere else.  Second call at 376 East Washington Avenue for a stove fire that caused a heavy smoke condition on the third floor.   If it were really bad our sponsor would make it Like It Never Even Happened!

Bridgeport News: 2 Accidents 2 Incidents 2 Blocks Apart

3:30pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police were busy with two separate accidents on Fairfield Avenue within two blocks from each other.  The first occurred as a city bus on Fairfield Avenue turned onto Norman Street and appears to have hit a parked car.  The second accident was Fairfield Avenue near Clinton Avenue where two cars collided .  Two people were injured in the crash and transported to the hospital by AMR.

Westport News: Lockdown at Schools and Temple Israel

2:11pm---#Westport CT--Temple Israel at 14 Coleytown Rd along with  Coleytown Middle School and Coleytown Elementary School went into lock down after a report of a man with a gun in Israel Temple.  Police tell me that two people entered the temple to interrupt a meeting and someone said that someone had a gun which appears to be false because no gun was recovered.  Mutual aid from Weston  and additional Westport Police shifts were called in.  Two were taken into custody and the lock down has been lifted.  Schools are beginning their routine dismissals.   This report has been made possible by:

Bridgeport News: Armed Robbery

UPDATE: UPDATE: Bridgeport Police Department have detained two at East Pasadena and Rodger Williams Road. However, they usually announce when the are taking suspect to booking which they have NOT at this time. 9:50pm--#Bridgeport CT--The Valllaro's Gas Station at 406 Huntington Turnpike was just robbed at gunpoint.  Police are looking for a black male about 23 years old wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, white scarf covering his face and glasses. He fled on a dark colored scooter down Evers Street towards Broadbridge Ave.  Additional two other males according to police radio reports.  A firearm was displayed and all the cash was taken from the register.   This report sponsored by:

On Saturday May 9th, 2015 Westport Officers responded to Home Goods on a report of a disturbance. Investigating Officers learned from Home Good employees that two ladies had attempted to steal merchandise from the store by concealing it in an ottoman they had purchased. When confronted by store employees about the theft, the two ladies started an argument and created a disturbance in the store. When Westport Officers were taking one of the ladies into custody for the attempted larceny, she resisted arrest. In addition, the Westport Officers while continuing their investigation learned that the two women had given them false names. State Troopers Seek Public’s Help

We told you about this when the incident occurred.  (Connecticut State Police Press Release) On May 10, 2015 at approximately 1:28 a.m., Troop G-Bridgeport received a report of 2015 Toyota Corolla being shot at while traveling Route 25 Northbound, in the area of exit 2, in Bridgeport. The operator of the vehicle did not see any flashes from the firearm, but believed the gunshots came from a white four door sedan, unknown make and model. Upon arrival, Troopers initiated an investigation in which they were able to confirm that the 2015 Toyota Corolla had been struck by multiple projectiles. On May 10, 2015 at approximately 1:34 a.m., Bridgeport Police Department reported gun shots in the area of Ellsworth Street and Fairfield Avenue.
