DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Two bank robberies in Fairfield

#Fairfield CT--Police are investigating two robberies that occurred minutes apart from each other. The first occurred at around 4pm at the Bank Of America at 1320 Kings Highway Cutoff near the circle. About 30 minutes later the Chase Bank on Grasmere Avenue across from Whole Foods was robbed. Police believe it is the same man for both locations and that it may be connected to a string of robberies in Greenwich. Police are looking Hispanic male 5'6”, he wore a blue shirt at Bank of America robbery and red shirt at the Chase robbery. 84 Year Old Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested

(Bridgeport, CT – Sep 9, 2013) – An 84-year-old man was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with sexually assaulting a child. Bridgeport Detective Eric King learned that Joseph Livramento, who most recently lived in Cape Verde off the coast of Africa, had returned to Connecticut and had a scheduled appointment at a doctor’s office. He was arrested there Thursday when he arrived at his appointment. Livramento was wanted on a 2007 arrest warrant in connection with the sexual assault of a young relative, who at the time was warrant was 12 years old. Woman charged with evading responsibility

(Bridgeport, CT – Sept. 11, 2013) – A city woman was charged with evading responsibility after a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Officer Stacey Lyons responded to the intersection of Hawthorne Street and Glenwood Avenue on a report of a pedestrian struck Tuesday evening. Lyons spoke to an independent witness and received a possible license plate number of the vehicle. The officer also reviewed security footage from a nearby condominium complex that showed the pedestrian being struck. Lyons went the house where the car was registered and spoke to the owner. Pauline Daniel, 60, stated that she had been driving on Hawthorn and Glenwood earlier but stated she didn’t strike a pedestrian. Lyons observed two hand imprints on the hood of the…

Electrical Fire at Nursing Home

11:01pm--#Fairfield CT--Firefighters are on scene at the Jewish Home for the Elderly at 175 Jefferson Street it was first reported to be an electrical fire in the Tandom (spelling?) Wing. Supervisor calls firefighters back it was an electrical fire. Firefighters arrive to find smoke but no fire now. They are accessing the roof to further investigate. UPDATE--Two ladder trucks were sent to the roof and remained there after recall of fire. All firefighters left the nursing home around 11:30pm.
