Police Identify Shooting Victim
(Bridgeport, CT – April 8, 2013) – Police Monday released the identity of a man shot in the leg over the weekend.
The victim was identified as Daquan Brown, 19, of Seaview Avenue. Police Officer Esther Hailey was dispatched at 2:36 a.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of Park Avenue and found Brown there. He was shot in the left leg.
He told Hailey that he was walking with his brother in the area of Iranistan Avenue and Laurel Avenue when they encountered a male arguing with several people. The man pulled out a gun and started firing it, the victim stated.
The victim and his brother then ran, he stated, and got separated.
At the hospital, the victim was uncooperative with police and refused to provide a contact number for his brother despite texting him from the hospital.
CT income growth second worst in nation
Connecticut’s personal income growth in 2012 was the second worst in the nation, behind only an agriculture state in the middle of a drought. “It indicates Connecticut has taken some hit in key industries, including manufacturing and finance,” said Steven Lanza, executive editor of The Connecticut Economy at the University of Connecticut. Himes Statement on President’s Remarks on Gun Violence Prevention
Himes Statement on President’s Remarks on Gun Violence Prevention…..What are YOUR thoughts?
“I stand with the President in urging my colleagues in Congress to come together and pass legislation that will prevent the next Newtown. Over 100 days after 26 innocent lives were cut tragically short, it is long past time for Congress to act. Nobody should be able to purchase a gun if they are a criminal or mentally ill. No civilian needs a military-style gun with a magazine that holds 30 bullets. No parent should have to fear for their child’s safety while he or she is at school. I remain frustrated that the House Majority has yet to bring up a single gun violence prevention measure for a vote, but I am hopeful that the brave action of Republicans and Democrats here in Connecticut and the calls of the President and the public alike will finally encourage my colleagues to do what we were sent here to do.”
