DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

CITY OF BRIDGEPORT TO DISTRIBUTE MORE THAN 15,000 TAKE HOME COVID TESTS TO RESIDENTS AND PARTNER AGENCIES

The Bridgeport EOC picked up the designated shipment of 15,837 COVID “at home tests” along with 48,000 N95 masks provided by the State of CT. The City of Bridgeport will be distributing more than 15,000 Take Home COVID Tests to residents and partner agencies tomorrow as part of the continued effort to decrease long lines and provide individuals with COVID tests.On Thursday, December 29th the EOC announced a city portal available to members of the public in need of a COVID test. Residents and city agencies were successful at logging in online or calling the EOC to register for their COVID Test. Stratford News: INITIAL SUPPLY OF COVID-19 RAPID TEST KITS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE TO SCHOOL SYSTEM

#STRATFORD – After the State of Connecticut’s initial plan to distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits through municipal governments fell apart last week, a new shipment of different rapid test kits is now expected to arrive in Stratford Monday morning, January 3rd.  The planned shipment is of 7,700 test kits.  Neighboring communities have been issued single-test kits, and the type of kit will be confirmed tomorrow upon delivery. Bridgeport’s First Homicide for 2022

Bridgeport Police UPDATE: On January 2, 2022 at approximately 10:03 pm, Bridgeport Police responded to 100 Marcel Street on the report of a party shot.  Emergency personnel located a victim lying in the front yard at that location and quickly transported him to Saint Vincent’s Hospital where he later died.   The B.P.D. Detective Bureau has taken charge of the investigation and has since processed the crime scene on Marcel Street.  Detectives are working several strong leads at this time.
