DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Westport News: Transfer Station Changes

Westport, CT – First Selectman Jim Marpe provided the following update and reminders today. As we are all aware, the Coronavirus crisis is ongoing. Public safety and the safety of town personnel is paramount.  To that end, the following update related to the Transfer Station management will now be enforced. Bridgeport News: Car Attempts To Strike Police Officer

Police UPDATE: On Sunday April 26, 2020 at 2313hrs a BPD Officer came over the radio reporting that a vehicle just attempted to strike him as he was approaching it near Huntington Road and East Main St. The vehicle, that was determined to be stolen out of Greenwich based on the plate information provided by the officer began to flee at a high rate of speed leading police on a short pursuit towards the highway. Once approaching the highway, BPD called off the pursuit however; all surrounding PDs along with the State were provided the description of the vehicle and license plate over the police hotline. Bridgeport News: Fire In An Abandoned House

2020-04-26@5:30pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called to a fire in the 1300 block of Iranistan Avenue (near Behanm Avenue).  When firefighters arrived they had smoke showing from the front door and discovered a fire in the basement.  The fire extended to the first floor but they quickly extinguished the fire.  Their primary and secondary searches found no one inside the house.  There was a fire in the same home a year ago but the building has been vacant since.  There were no reported injuries and the fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire.

Bridgeport News: Woman Shot At

2020-04-25@4:00pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police received a shotspotter activation on North Avenue.
