DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Person Shot In The Head While Driving

Police UPDATE: Police detectives said On May 10, 2020 at 9:18pm, the Bridgeport Emergency Communication Center began receiving calls of a preliminary report of a party shot in the area of Vine Street and Park Avenue. According to Police, a male victim was struck once in the neck by gunfire while driving away from the area of Park Avenue/ Vine St. after a reported altercation. After being shot, the victim lost control of his vehicle and crashed. A male passenger was ejected through the windshield. Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment. 1 In Custody With Stolen Vehicle

2020-05-10@2:00pm--#Bridgeport CT-- #Trumbull CT--#cttraffic-- Trumbull police have one in custody on Route 8 southbound near exit 9.  The suspect allegedly stole a car from East Main and Burroughs Street.  The owner of the car chased the stolen car but lost it near upper Main Street in Bridgeport.  Another good samaritan picked up the chase.  The suspect hit a parked car but continued to flee.  Trumbull Police located and apprehended the suspect on Route 8.  The suspect has nonextraditable warrants out of Arkansas.   This news report is made possible by:

Westport News: Chimney Fire

2020-05-09@ 8:48pm--Westport firefighters were dispatched to a report of a chimney fire with fire coming from the roof at 8:28 PM Saturday evening. The initial dispatch was Engines 4, 2, 5 and 6, Truck 1 and the Shift Commander. Upon arrival, Engine 4 reported smoke coming from around the area near the top of the chimney. Units entered the house and searched for fire extension. The remaining fire in the fireplace was extinguished and the burnt material was removed from the home. Truck 1 operated from the aerial device and found that there was active fire in the void space around the flue pipe in a wood and stone veneer chimney.
