Bridgeport News: Trash Chute Fire

2019-10-26 @ 6:51pm–#Bridgeport CT– The seniors living at Harborview Towers at 376 East Washington Avenue may have thought they were seeing a rerun of Towering Inferno as police who were first on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the fifth and sixth floor.  Officer then began banging on doors attempting to evacuate residence.  Assistant Fire Chief Firpi told me that there was jam-up in the trash chute and a fire had started inside, original radio reports said there was a trash can fire.  The sprinkler systems activated and Assistant Chief Firpi opted for the seniors to shelter in place as the fire was controlled and that there was more danger to the elderly residents slipping of wet steps.  There were no related injuries to civilians or firefighters but one resident was transported to the hospital with an unrelated injury.

Bridgeport News: 11 Rounds Fired, Car Shot Up

2019-10-26@1:01am–#Bridgeport CT– Eleven rounds were fired on Albion Street and a silver Honda was shot up near the Albion Apartments.  Must be quiet and the sound is traveling as I’ve received a number of reports from viewers as far as Capital Avenue on this one!  So far the hospitals check clear of any gunshot victims.

Bridgeport News: Sedan Slams Into SUV Lifting It

2019-10-25@10:00PMish– First responders were called to Steuben Street which is a one-way street between East Main and Pembroke Street. A sedan slammed into the rear of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and peeled back the hood of the sedan back onto the windshield. EMTs evaluated and talked the 2 adults and a child to go to the hospital, they did not appear to be seriously injured. Speed may have been a factor, police are investigating.

 

Bridgeport News: Bomb Threat- Man Has History Of Like Phone Calls

Police UPDATE: The bomb threat called in to the synagogue earlier today was made by a male in his 60’s who resides in Florida. This male has documented mental health history and has made these type of calls in the past. We are in touch with his family and they are taking measures to keep him away from access to telephones. These is no current threat to this synagogue or any others in the area that we are aware of.

 

2019-10-25@2:11pm–#Bridgeport CT– Today, Terron Jones, spokesperson for the city of Bridgeport sent this e-mail: “Around 1411hrs, BPD received 2 bomb threat calls from a male directed at 2710 Park Ave(Congregation B’NAI Israel).  Bridgeport Police  and Bridgeport Fire have secured the scene and have requested a bomb dog.  All occupants (adults & children) were safely evacuated from the building. Bridgeport Police and Bridgeport Fire will probe and clear the building as a precautionary measure”.  Later, Jones released another email that said “Two Bomb sniffing K-9 units out of Yale New Haven are with the bomb team (Stamford) clearing the building with Bridgeport Police.  ”  It is not known if this is a preliminary or follow up report as Rowena White, the mayor’s spokesperson instructed me to post on Jones’ reports.

 

Bridgeport News: Child Falls From Tisdale School

2019-10-24@5:42pm–#Bridgeport CT– A 14 year old was playing on the playground at Tisdale School. He apparently found a ladder that accessed the roof area, and attempted to climb it and fell about 12’ with the ladder falling on him . He was transported to Bridgeport Hospital. His parents were notified.

Bridgeport News: Stolen Vehicle Arrests After Foot Pursuit

2019-10-24@4:00pm–#Bridgeport CT– Police locate a stolen vehicle which pulled over and a foot pursuit ensued on Trumbull Avenue near Voight Avenue.  It sounds like 4 out of 5 that fled were apprehended.
