Fairfield Police Department Launching School Zone Speed Safety Program Beginning 5/1/2026 Fairfield, CT – The Fairfield Police Department, in partnership with Altumint, announced the launch of Fairfield’s School Zone Speed Safety Program at designated school zone locations throughout town. The program will begin on 5/1/2026 with a warning period running through 5/31/2026. During this time, qualifying violations captured at posted locations will result in warning notices. Beginning 6/1/2026, citations will be issued for qualifying violations. Bridgeport Police Conduct Nightclub Compliance Checks The Bridgeport Police Department began 2026 compliance checks of nightclubs on Friday, April 24, to determine if they have the proper licenses and permits. The checks started with clubs on the East Side and will continue throughout the city through the summer. A special detail of supervisors and officers checked five establishments on East Main Street on Friday night. The managers and owners were given packets on how to properly register as a "nightclub" under Chapter 5.88 of the Municipal Code of City Ordinances and were advised on how to complete the application. The Stratford Police Department responded to 437 Woodstock Avenue on April 04, 2026 at approximately 2340 hours on report of a disturbance. This incident was determined to be a homicide. Paul T. Balzarano (08-23-1982) was identified as the deceased victim. He died as the result of suffering multiple gunshot wounds. On April 26, 2026, at approximately 7:10 PM, Bridgeport Police were dispatched to the intersection of Stratford Avenue & Union Avenue on the report of armed suspect(s) in the street stopping citizens in their vehicles. Upon arrival, uniformed officers observed one male suspect brandishing a handgun. That suspect was on foot, repositioning himself around an occupied pickup truck, while he pointed the firearm in the direction of responding officers. Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested On November 15, 2025, members of the Norwalk Police Department Patrol Division responded to a report of two juveniles who were sexually assaulted. The suspect was reported to be a former family acquaintance. Bridgeport Man Arrested After Police Pursuit Into Trumbull

The Bridgeport Police arrested a city man Thursday for numerous recent domestic violence assaults after he was pursued into Trumbull and briefly hid in the woods there.  Angel Montanez, 24, had an active felony warrant when he was spotted by a Bridgeport officer driving north on the 25/8 Connector shortly before noon.  Montanez abandoned his car shortly thereafter and was taken into custody in a residential Trumbull neighborhood near the border with Monroe.
