Fairfield News: Class Project Not Bomb at Train Station

At approximately 5:33 AM on 6/20/2014, Department of Public Works employees discovered a suspicious package left along the pedestrian sidewalk of the Unquowa Road Railroad overpass.  Fairfield Police conducted an initial assessment and contact MTA police for a bomb detection dog. MTA Police conducted an assessment and contacted CT State Police Bomb unit for further investigation. The CT State police arrived on scene shortly after 7:00 AM, xrayed the object, and determined it was not an explosive. The item was seized by the Fairfield Police for further investigation. Train and vehicular traffic resumed at approximately 8:30 AM

The package has been identified as a school project constructed at nearby Tomlinson Middle School. The owner has been identified. The child inadvertently left the item in the vicinity of the bridge with the intent of returning to retrieve the school project. The account of what transpired has been confirmed. It has been determined that this was an unfortunate accident and there was no malicious intent.

Southport News: Window Broken at Southport Galleries

The Doctor Is In…..The Computer Doctor

Saturday was the grand opening of the Computer Doctor at 1134 Post Road across from Cumberland Farms.  Owner Patrick Demaille says the Computer Doctor will do complete diagnostics on all PCs and Macs right down to the circuit level if need be. Fairfield News: Children Rescued in Overturned Sailboat

11:00am–#Fairfield CT– Fairfield Fire Department  rescue two children and adults in a sailboat that overturned in Long Island Sound.  Fairfield rescue have resuced two children and two adults and are bringing them ashore.  Bridgeport firefighters assisting are standing by the boat.  Another boat, a sailfish is struggling with the winds and also requires assistance.

Fairfield News: Roads Closed Due To Flooding

12:00pm–#Fairfield CT–The underpasses on Post Road at North Benson Road, Round Hill Road and Mill Plain Road are closed due to flooding from the heavy rains.   You can expect roads that are prone to flooding to be closing soon.

Fairfield News: Gas Leak at Southport Brewery

11:11am–#Fairfield CT #Southport CT–A construction worker hit the gas main at the Southport Brewery at 2070 Post Road.  The building was evacuated, firefighters remained on scene until the gas company reconnected the line.  Fire department procedure is to notify the health department to inspect the premises.  The restaurant is expected to be open for  lunch time.

Fairfield News: House Entered

3:37pm–#Fairfield CT–Fairfield is continuing with the unusual calls with a woman in the 600 block of Beach Road reporting that while she was in her bathroom someone entered her home.  She said she hear voices.  When she exited the bathroom she found her front door open.  Police are investigating.
