Rollover accident

8:02pm–Extrication was required by Bridgeport Fire Department at this accident at North Ave. and Laurel Ave. At least two people were sent to nearby hospitals with injuries.

Bridgeport Police: St. V’s on Lockdown

8:06pm–#Bridgeport CT–According to police radio St. Vincent’s Hospital is currently on lockdown. We do not know the exact cause but moments earlier police were called because a victim being treated there was being harassed by assailant.

Two Gang Members Arrested for Robbery Conspiracy

(Bridgeport, CT – March 21, 2013) – Two known gang members were charged this week in connection with a 2012 robbery that police preempted.
Frederick Whitaker, 27, of Stratford, and Clarence Hardy, 24, of Bridgeport, were brought from prison to Superior Court where they were arraigned Wednesday on charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. Both had been jailed since their October arrest on related weapons charges.
The arrest was made by the State Police Gang Unit.
According to Bridgeport Sgt. Jason Amato, the unit developed information that two known members of the Bloods gang were planning an armed robbery.
On Oct. 24, Amato learned the pair was driving to Bridgeport to pick up two guns and then planned to travel to Milford to meet a man who wanted to sell them two semi-automatic pistols.
Whitaker and Hardy planned to rob this man of his firearms and money. The pair had gotten their guns and they were en route to Milford to commit the robbery when the gang unit, assisted by Bridgeport patrol officers and K-9 Officer Mark Martocchio, intercepted them at a gas station on Boston Avenue.
“Usually, it is hard to quantify how many crimes are prevented by good police work,” said Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. “In this case, however, we know that a violent robbery did not happen because of our intervention.”
Police recovered two loaded firearms from the car and charged them with the gun offenses. They were jailed on $100,000 bond. Police this month submitted the warrant for the planned robbery . A judge set bond at $75,000 on the new conspiracy counts.

Whoops! Car into a house

4:36pm–#Trumbull CT–Resident at 1895 Huntington Turnpike went to park the car in the garage and kept going into the basement. Firefighters on the way. UPDATE–Firefighters on scene reporting minor damage and requesting the housing inspector to the scene.

Pedestrian hit by car

2:42pm–#Bridgeport CT–A pedestrian was hit by a car in front of the train station on Water Street.

Anti tank round removed from Fairfield home

9:38pm–#Fairfield CT–The State Police Bomb Squad was called to 1062 Reef Road when construction workers discovered a 37mm anti tank round that had been compromised. The single shell was removed from the home without incident and the State Police will dispose of it. The round was dated 1942 but may have been anti tank rounds for the French during World War I

5:31pm–#Fairfield CT–Police dispatched to Whole Foods 350 Grasmere Ave for a lady in her fifties that has been legally ordered to stay out of the store. This happens a lot in Fairfield it seems.

I-95 27A Remains Closed

3:51pm–#Bridgeport CT–#cttraffic–The start of the commute will continue to be tough as they continue to clear the tractor trailer that overturned on the ramp earlier this morning. The attached photo show workers attempting to right the truck, the photo was taken around 3:20pm.
