Middletown, CT. (August 31st, 2017): Over 35 million drivers are expected to travel across the United States this upcoming Labor Day Weekend, with the vast majority of them traveling by car. Connecticut State Troopers want to remind motorists to expect heavy traffic, exercise caution, allow extra time to reach their destination, don’t text and drive, set GPS destinations prior to traveling, and use a hands-free device when talking on your cellphone/mobile device while operating a vehicle. The Norwalk Department of Police Service wishes to remind the public that Crossing Guards will be stationed throughout the city starting tomorrow and for the remainder of the school year. Police Nab Darien Bank Robber

#Westport CT--On July 2, 2017 at approximately 12:57PM, the Westport Police responded to TD Bank, 1111 Post Road East on a report of an alarm. While en route to the bank, responding officers were advised that a bank robbery had just taken place. The suspect had passed a note to the bank employee telling him a robbery was occurring and he had a gun. Video surveillance showed a 2006-2008 Lincoln MKZ or Lincoln Zephyr enter the parking lot just prior to the robbery and leave right after the suspect exited the bank. Governor Announces Municipal Aid Update

Today, the Governor gave his update on the Municipal Aid levels for each town. This is the State operating plan until a State Budget is passed. Senator Moore Welcomes Affordable Housing To Monroe

Monroe, CT – Senator Marilyn Moore (D-Bridgeport) today welcomed the approval of $400,000 in state funds to enhance housing availability and increase economic development in the town of Monroe.   “Not only is safe, secure, affordable housing a basic human need, but it also supports the overall economic success of our town and state,” Sen. First Pool of Mosquitoes in Stratford Test Positive for West Nile Virus

#Stratford, Connecticut - The Stratford Health Department announced that the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station reported Culex pipiens mosquitoes trapped at Beacon Point on July 19th, 2017 have tested positive for West Nile Virus. “This is about the time of year we see positive WNV-carrying mosquitos,” said Andrea Boissevain, Director of Health, “Take quick and easy steps to prevent exposure and bites like wearing long sleeves, especially at dawn and dusk and use insect repellent.” Christina Batoh, Stratford’s Environmental Conservation Administrator noted that the Town started treating for mosquitos in early June using a biological larvicide. “All 5,281 catch basins were treated.
