As Local As Layoffs Get–600 As Cablevision To Close Shelton & Stratford Call Centers

Altice, the French company that bought out Cablevision and Optimum Services has announced the closing of it's call center and customer service centers in Shelton and Stratford, about 600 people are expected to be let go. In a statement Altice said:  "“Over the last few years, there have been investments and enhancements to our Optimum products and services, making them more reliable and providing more customer service touch points than ever before,” Anselmo stated in an email to Hearst Connecticut. “As a result, we have seen a significant improvement in customer call volume and patterns.”   The layoffs are not expected to affect the field service repair workers nor News 12 in Norwalk but it is rumored Tom Appleby is…

Double Vision

An off duty first responder saw me drive by to the water rescue at St. Mary's this afternoon knowing I was on the way to a breaking story.  He called me  to find out what was going on.    Larry at Interstate Batteries on 125 Holland Avenue now has an Interstate race car now too!  So if you see the car then you can figure there is some breaking news going on somewhere or someone needs a battery!  The car I drive is closest to the camera, you can see DoingItLocal.com logo on the back window.  It is also on the back spoiler.  No matter how big the logo it won't stand out against the rest of the car!

Local Heroes!

On the morning of May 31, 2016, Jay Tolisano experienced a cardiac arrest in his Fairfield home after his morning workout. Jay’s wife, Kerry, heard something weird coming from the room and decided to check on him. She found her 39 year old husband unresponsive. She immediately dialed 911.  The 911 dispatchers sent the Fairfield Police and Fire Departments and simultaneously notified American Medical Response. Upon the rescuers arrival, they found Kerry doing CPR on her husband with the assistance of the 911 dispatcher. CPR was taken over by the rescuers and advanced life support measures were started by the AMR crew Allen Jelliffe and Tchad Williams. Should I Delay Posts?

Yesterday I made a post that many criticized mostly over spelling of all things.  When I report from my phone I'm not as accurate on that keyboard and typos happen.  When I'm on scene I am by myself trying to gather the information, observe other things while trying to post and record off my video camera.  Often times the sun is blinding me from proof reading or just the commotion of a news scene will cause errors.  I assumed you would want the information right away as opposed to perfect grammar.  Did I assume incorrectly?  Should I provide you better pictures recorded on my video camera as opposed to the mediocre cellphone images?
