Stratford News: Fresh Veggies and Wellness Opportunities!

Stratford CT–The Stratford Health Department has partnered with LifeBridge Community Services Enterprise of Bridgeport to launch a Fresh Connections produce-distribution site in Stratford. This bi-monthly program will begin on Thursday, May 11th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Birdseye Municipal Complex.

Fresh Connections, a cost-effective approach to providing residents with fresh produce, offers participants the opportunity to purchase a box of fresh fruits and vegetables twice a month or the ability to shop for individual items from the “pop-up” stand. Residents can purchase 10-12 pounds of produce for $10 or 20-25 pounds for $20. Pop-up items will vary in price.

In addition to offering seasonal fresh produce, Fresh Connections strives to include free health and wellness opportunities for their consumers during pick-up. Opportunities such as cooking demonstrations, health screenings, and nutrition education will be available to those visiting the distribution site on pick-up day.

Andrea Boissevain, the Director of Health states, “Fresh Connections allows members of our community a chance to receive affordable and nutritious produce in such a convenient way. Individuals leaving work, picking their children up from school, or out running errands can stop by the distribution site and within minutes receive a whole box of fresh produce”.

This program is open to everyone and no appointments are necessary. For more information call the Stratford Health Department at (203) 385-4058 or visit our Facebook page for updates: https://www.facebook.com/StratfordHealthDepartmentCT/

Look Who’s Doing It Local! Manny from T-Rex Audio

I met with Manny Alves, owner of T-Rex Audio located  at 1324 Stratford Avenue in Stratford who will be advertising with us.  He specializes in installation of car remote starters, alarms as well as car audio and video.  Manny at T-Rex Audio  has been at the same location for over fifteen years.

You have heard me report many times of cars being stolen while warming up, even with the owner just a few feet away.  It only takes a few seconds to lose your car this way!  My wife has a remote starter in her car and she uses it year round because even in the spring the car can get really hot inside parked in the sun, in the summer the temperatures will be super hot.  Its just as nice enter a cool car in the summer as  a warm car in the winter!  Manny from T-Rex Audio will take care of you!

Even if you have an older car doesn’t mean you have to live with an out  of date stereo system.  I’ve got my eye on the touch screen Bluetooth system for my 2002 Subaru.  I don’t want to get rid of the car because it is still so reliable and is better to drive in the bad weather than the Interstate race car.   Some of the systems Manny sells have back up cameras as well.  Let’s face it, that is part of the fun driving experience is having a decent sound system!

You can reach Manny at T-Rex Audio at 203-378-8377, email him at info @trexcaraudio.com.  You can visit him on Facebook and see some of the cool projects he is working on at:  http://www.trexcaraudio.com/

Hey don’t forget, Mother’s and Father’s Day is coming up and what mom or dad wouldn’t want a remote car starter alarm or upgrade to their sound system?  Manny  of T-Rex Audio does the installations right there and with his many years of expertise you know it will be done right !
