State Police Detectives Investigate Stratford Carnival Ride Incident

Stratford, CT. (May 26, 2016): State Police detectives from the Fire and Explosion Investigative Unit (FEIU) are investigating a carnival ride after a light fixture became dislodged while the ride was in motion. On May 25, 2016 shortly after 9:00 p.m. a ferris wheel ride at the carnival on Barnum Ave. in Stratford was stopped by the ride operator after a light fixture became dislodged and wedged between two seats on the ferris wheel. The dislodged light fixture prevented the two seats from properly swiveling. Upon hearing the light fixture fall, the ride operator immediately stopped the ferris wheel and contacted the Stratford Fire Department. Stratford Police Awards and Promotions Ceremony

#Stratford Connecticut--Thursday evening the town of Stratford held a promotions and awards ceremony.  Victor Velez and  David Gugliotti were promoted to the rank of lieutenant.  Antonio Santos and Carlos Castro were promoted to the rank of sergeant.  Todd Moore was promoted to detective.   A number of awards were presented as well as the Medal of Valor that was presented to Officer Paul Giegengack.  Corporal Brian Norko and Mr. Arthur Gallant was presented the Chief's Award.  Four recent retirees were also honored at the ceremony.

Stratford PAL Athletes named to the CT All-State Rifle Team

#Stratford Connecticut--Recently 9 members of the Stratford PAL Junior Rifle Club were recognized by the CT State Rifle and Revolver Association (CSRRA) in a banquet Thursday May 12 th in Wallingford. These 9 shooters were named as CT All-State Athletes in either the Sub-Junior (under age 14) or Junior Categories (14-18 years old). Each of these young athletes was selected based upon their superior scores and league averages over the 2015-2016 season. Troopers Seize over 25 Pounds of Heroin Following Traffic Stop

#Trumbull, CT. (May 17, 2016): State Troopers from Troop G-Bridgeport, Trumbull Police Department and a Trumbull Police K9 team located over 25 pounds of heroin following traffic stop. On May 17, 2016 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Troopers from Troop G were on patrol conducting motor vehicle enforcement when they observed a Toyota Camry commit a moving violation. Troopers stopped the Toyota on Route 15 Northbound in Stratford.  While troopers were speaking with the operator, they were alerted to possible narcotics in the vehicle and initiated an investigation. A Trumbull Police Department K9 team responded to the traffic stop and assisted with the investigation. #Stratford Connecticut-- There has been an increase in thefts of power equipment from unattended trailers. These thefts are occurring while workers are diligently working on a jobsite often leaving equipment unattended. These thefts are crimes of opportunity and occur very quickly. We encourage citizens not to leave any power equipment unattended. We encourage owners to inventory their equipment by photographing the equipment, documenting make model and serial number, and etching unique identifiable information on the equipment.
