Wrong-Way Driver Causes Collision on RT 8 Northbound in Shelton, Leads to DUI Arrest

A wrong-way driver on Route 8 Northbound in Shelton caused a head-on collision early on August 28, 2024, leading to a DUI arrest. At around 1:25 AM, Troopers from Troop I in Bethany responded to reports of a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes near exit 12. Before Troopers could reach the scene, the wrong-way driver, identified as 39-year-old Andrea Lynn Marseglia of Orange, collided with another vehicle. The adult driver and juvenile passenger of the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries. Gregory J. Gnandt, 55, a philanthropist and general contractor from Trumbull, has been chosen as the 2025 Barnum Festival ringmaster. Gnandt, who revived the festival’s car show fundraiser into a popular event with concerts, food trucks, and vendors at Z-Topia in Monroe, has a long history with the festival. On July 23, 2024, investigators, with the assistance of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Bridgeport Police Task Force, executed search warrants at a residence identified as Nunez’s stash apartment. They seized approximately 15.2 grams of raw heroin, packaging material, and items used to process heroin.
