45 Percent of Children Nationwide Lack Summer Learning Opportunities, Citing Cost As Biggest Barrier WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, on Friday introduced the Summer for All Act, legislation to provide high-quality summer enrichment opportunities to kids and families who otherwise would not have access to these programs. The bill would establish two new grant programs to provide long-term, direct funding that would help community-based organizations provide free summer camp and other activities to underserved kids and support states in the planning and implementation of initiatives to address summer programming gaps in sustainable ways. Shelton News: Police Investigate Serious Motorcycle Accident on Walnut Tree Road

On July 19, 2024, at approximately 10:09 AM, the Shelton Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a motorcycle and motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Walnut Tree Road and Thompson Street in Shelton. Upon arrival, Shelton Police and EMS found a 21-year-old male and a 22-year-old female in the roadway with serious injuries. The Shelton Police Accident Reconstruction team was dispatched to investigate the incident. Initial findings indicated that the male operator of the motorcycle, with his female passenger, was traveling south on Walnut Tree Hill Road. #Bridgeport CT--- On June 11, 2024, Tyquwane Gilchrist voluntarily surrendered at Bridgeport Police Headquarters in response to an outstanding arrest warrant. This warrant pertained to the September 10, 2023, shooting at “In the City” Lounge, located at 196 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Gilchrist faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Pistol/Revolver, with a court-set bond of $200,000. This morning, he was arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court. Additionally, Gilchrist was a victim of a shooting on April 27, 2024, within the 300 block of Orchard Street.
