Shelton News: Male Arrested for Assault and Robbery with Machete
#Shelton Connecticut–On 10-19- 16, 26 year old Corey Welch of Ansonia was arrested by a warrant and charged with Robbery 1 st Degree, Assault 1 st Degree, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, and Larceny 5 th Degree. Welch, who was already in custody at Derby Court, was being held on a $150,000 bond for this incident and was arraigned at Derby Court.
The arrest stems from a report of a robbery that occurred in the area of the Riverwalk on 10-3- 16. At approximately 8:00PM, the two victims ages 16 and 19 were approached by an unknown male and asked if they hung around with a certain person. The male then pushed the 19 year old victim to the ground and pulled out a machete and put it to his throat. The suspect continued to yell and then choked and assaulted the victim. The suspect then took the other victim’s cell phone and other items and threw them into the river. The suspect eventually let go and both victims were able to leave. Detectives conducted an investigation and were able to identify Welch as the suspect.

With deep sorrow I must communicate to the community that a well-liked student at SHS, Jonathan Sabo, passed away last night. His untimely death is a family tragedy first and foremost, and it is a shock to his friends and the entire school community –as well as all of Shelton.
We need to support the Sabo family and all of our students at this most difficult time.

Valley Vaccines
Health District Offers Back to School Immunization Clinic Naugatuck Valley Health District will host a special children’s vaccination clinic to help get district students up to date before the new school year begins. The immunization clinic will be held from 9AM-3 PM on Tuesday, August 23 at the district office at 98 Bank Street in Seymour. Appointments are required. A parent or guardian must accompany the student.
Depending on a child’s age and grade level, different vaccinations are required to enter school. For instance, children entering kindergarten in Connecticut this year need to have at least four doses of the diptheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTap) vaccine, at least three doses of the polio vaccine, two doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, three doses of hepatitis B vaccine, two doses of varicella (or chicken pox) vaccine, two doses of the hepatitis A vaccine, one dose of the pneumococcal vaccine and one dose of the Haemophilus influenzae type B vaccine.
Please consult your school nurse in regarding the vaccines required for your child. There will be a charge of $20 per vaccine for those children under 19. Costs for vaccines for older individuals vary. Payment is by cash, credit or debit card. Please bring your child’s vaccine record. The Naugatuck Valley Health District office is located at 98 Bank Street, Seymour, and serves residents of the municipalities of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour and Shelton. Waterbury News: Now An Untimely Death Investigation of Naugatuck Man
Waterbury, CT. (July 20, 2016): State Police Detectives from Western District Major Crime (WDMC) are investigating an untimely death in the Route 8 exit 29 commuter lot in Waterbury.
On July 20, 2016 at approximately 9:15 a.m., troopers from Troop A-Southbury responded to the Route 8 exit 29 commuter lot for the report of an unconscious male in a motor vehicle. Upon arrival troopers located the unconscious male alone in the vehicle. EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
State Police Detectives from Western District Major Crime responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) also responded to the scene and will assist with the investigation. The OCME will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine cause and manner of Through the course of the investigation detectives determined there is no criminal aspect to this untimely death.
