Westport News: Minecraft To Tell A Story

Toquet Hall Teen Center announces an after school class in video game puppetry to be held March 27 through March 31from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.  Registration is open to students in grades 7-12. Led by the EK Theater (www.ektheater.com), students will learn how to use Minecraft to tell "The Story of Aoyagi" from Lafcadio Hearn's Kwaidan, a collection of Japanese ghost stories first published in 1904.   The program has a registration fee of $45 and space is limited. Students must have their own laptop and Minecraft account. Registration is available at toquethall.org. Westport News: Traffic Stop Nets Numerous Charges

#Westport Connecticut--On 02/10/17 at approximately 4:30pm, Westport Officer David Scinto observed a gray Mercedes sedan traveling south on Myrtle Avenue with cancelled registration plates that belong on a Volvo. The vehicle was stopped, and the operator was identified as George Wilson. A check of Wilson showed his driving privileges were suspended. Wilson also had a Failure to Appear warrant out of Troop G, State Police. Wilson was taken into custody and processed for the above listed charges. Wilson was issued a court date of 02/21/2017 at Norwalk Court. Wilson posted the $7,500 bond and was released. (Westport Police Press Release)

Firefighter James “Doc” Branson, who recently returned from a 375 day deployment to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with the United State Marines as an advisor with Security Cooperation Team-Jordan. The Westport Fire Department celebrated his return by taking down the “Blue Star Flag” which flew at Westport Fire Headquarters during his time overseas. Westport News: Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6 th degree

#Westport Connecticut--In October of 2016, Westport Officers were dispatched to CVS Pharmacy, 397 Post Road East, on a report of a Larceny. A witness observed a male leave the store with 2 or 3 boxes of what looked to be expensive oral  roothbrushes. The male then got into the passenger side of a vehicle which then drove out of the back of the lot. The witness found this suspicious so she wrote down the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle. The witness also noticed a female driving the suspect vehicle. Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, Officers observed the suspect, Nabeel Abdallah, take several boxes out of the store without paying. #Westport Connecticut--In November of 2016, the victim of this incident filed a larceny from her vehicle report. The victim stated her vehicle was parked and unoccupied in the parking lot of Assumption Church at 11 Burr Road on November 15 th , 2016. The Assumption Church parking lot is in close proximity to the Saugatuck Elementary School parking lot, which is located on Riverside Avenue. On 11/19/2016, the victim read an article regarding an arrest made by Westport police of a motor vehicle break in at Saugatuck Elementary School. Westport News: Bad Check Arrest

#Westport Connecticut--In September of 2016, Kyle Ritchie issued 2 checks to the victims of this incident. The checking account did not have sufficient funds to pay the checks, which totaled approximately 4,500.00. The victims and the police attempted several times to have Ritchie pay the owed amount which he did not. An arrest warrant was submitted to Norwalk Court for Ritchie’s arrest. On 01/30/17, Ritchie turned himself in for the active warrant. He was transported to Norwalk Court , 01/30/17, after being processed.

December of 2016, the victim of this incident came to police headquarters to file a Larceny complaint. The victim noticed checks were written and signed in her name from her checking account, but she did not write them. The checks totaled $500.00. The victim suspected her housekeeper as no one else had access to the home. Westport Officers observed the video surveillance from the People’s Bank in Bridgeport where one of the checks was cashed. The officers were able to positively identify Olga Rincon as the woman cashing the forged check. A warrant was then submitted to Norwalk Court for Rincon’s arrest.
