Westport News: Numerous Larceny Charges

#Westport CT--In October of 2016, Westport Officer Ruta Pratt responded to a Weston Road address on a report of a Larceny. The victim of this incident reported she was unable to locate her purse, and her bank advised her of fraudulent activity on her account. Officer Pratt was advised that the victim’s belonging were located in the parking lot of a Pawn Shop in Bridgeport. Officer Pratt followed up with pawn shop and learned that the items located were taken out of the victim’s home, indicating a burglary had taken place. Westport News: Multiple Charges

#Westport CT--In November of 2014, one of the victims of this crime came to Westport Police headquarters to file a report of fraudulent activity on his credit card. Officers learned that $13,000.00 was charged to the victim’s credit card from a fraudulent company. As Detectives investigated this crime, they discovered multiple other fraudulent companies which were created by Rachael Alexander and Marc Alexander. Rachael was arrested in March, 2017. Marc Alexander illegally  obtained credit card information from the victims, then would bill a phony company that they created. The amount of fraudulent charges totaled $27,000.00 for the Westport case. Marc Alexander was also investigated by other towns and States for similar crimes. Westport News: Breach Of Peace After Spraying Up Restaurant

Here are the details on a story we were first to tell you last week: #Westport CT--On 04/20/2017 at approximately 1:00pm, Westport Officers were dispatched to 265 Riverside Avenue, Juniors, on a report of a man who entered the restaurant and caused a disturbance. The business owner stated that a man entered the restaurant and was attempting to sell a cleaning product. The male suspect was later identified as Michael Hicks. The owner stated Hicks was moving around the restaurant spraying the cleaning product on multiple surfaces including the grill area. The owner asked Hicks to leave multiple times and stated that he'd take a business card. Hicks then began swearing at him and his workers. Hicks finally left, then…

Westport News: House Fire

6:02am--#Westport CT--This morning, the Westport Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 189 Cross Highway. The call came a trapped occupant reporting a fire in the house. The Westport Fire Department responded with all 11 firefighters and 4 officers on duty, along with Westport Police and EMS. Westport Police Officers were able to rescue the occupant from a first floor window as the fire department arrived. The occupant was transported to the hospital with non-life treating injuries. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and rescue 2 dogs that were still in the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time by the Fire Marshal’s Office. Westport News: Whole Foods Employee Larceny

#Westport CT: In December of 2016, Westport Officers were dispatched to Whole Foods, 399 Post Road West on a Larceny complaint. Officers learned that employee, Shamonie Gibson, was creating fake transactions and returning the funds into her own personal account. Gibson was using a supervisor’s information to do the fake returns on a day when that supervisor was not working. This went on from August to December. Gibson was interviewed by the Officers and she admitted to the fraudulent transactions. A warrant was submitted to Norwalk Court for Gibson’s arrest. Westport News: Contractor Arrested AGAIN

#Westport CT-- On 02/16/17, the victim of this incident came to Westport Police Headquarters to file a larceny complaint. The victim needed work done to his home on North Avenue, and hired Jeffrey Chirillo of Chirillo Contracting. The victim reported that Chirillo agreed to do the work for $1895.00. The victim reported that he paid Chirillo $1365.00 on 10/02/16 as a deposit to do the work. Chirillo never did any work at his residence. The victim gave Chirillo ample time to repay the deposit but Chirillo did not. A warrant for Chirillo’s arrest was submitted to Norwalk Court. Westport News: Structure Fire

Westport Firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at a commercial occupancy on Woodside Lane at 5:55 AM. Two Engine companies, the Truck Company and the Shift Commander were on the initial dispatch. Arriving companies initially staged at locked entry gates and proceeded to walk up the building to investigate the cause of the alarm. While conducting a 360 of the building, Engine 2 found smoke coming from a room on the 1 st floor at the rear of the building. The incident was upgraded to a working fire bringing two additional Westport Engines. Westport News: Housekeeper Charged in Forgery/Larceny

#Westport CT--July of 2016, a Westport woman hired  a cleaning company to clean their home and learned that a check was removed from their checkbook that was cashed at a Citibank.  The victim reported a bank check in the amount of $4,000.00 dollars was deposited to an unknown account that the victim did not write. It was learned that the check was taken from the second to last position in the victim’s checkbook. Officers obtained video surveillance from Citibank where the check was deposited, and the suspect was positively identified as Diana Parra. Parra was an assistant housekeeper for the victim. Westport News: Westport Gun Owner Charged

On 03/08/2017 at approximately 8:00am, Westport Detectives responded to Norwalk Hospital on report of a Westport resident who was being treated for a gunshot wound to the left thigh. It was reported that the incident happened at approximately 6:00am that morning on Oak Street, Westport. The patient was Dominic Demace, who claimed to have accidentally shot himself in the leg while cleaning a gun. Detectives served a Search Warrant on the home to further investigate the incident.
