Old Road/Wakeman Lane Bridge Replacement Project
Traffic Detours April 1 through November 30 Westport, CT - Town Engineer Keith Wilberg has announced that the project to replace the Old Road Bridge over Sasco Creek at the Westport/Fairfield Town Line begins soon. The road is Wakeman Lane in Fairfield. The scheduled closing date of the roadway is on or about Tuesday, April 1, and is expected to continue through November 30. Local traffic will be directed through the designated detour route – Old Road to Bulkley Avenue North to Post Road East to Hulls Highway to Wakeman Lane, or the reverse, as necessary. Bridgeport Police Investigate Union Avenue Shooting That Injured 14-Year-Old
Bridgeport police are investigating a shooting that injured a 14-year-old boy on Saturday evening. At approximately 5:10 p.m. on March 22, ShotSpotter detected gunfire in the 700 block of Union Avenue. Around 5:40 p.m., the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center was notified that a teen had arrived at Bridgeport Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, which was later abandoned on Mill Hill Avenue. Officers secured evidence at both locations, and the Detective Bureau’s Crime Gun Intelligence Team is actively working leads. A swastika sticker was discovered in the back of a Tesla parked at the Black Rock Train Station in Fairfield, Connecticut.
