8:00am–#Bridgeport CT– A construction worker fell through the roof at Bridgeport Hospital. The assistant fire chief told me he fell about ten to twelve feet and suffered unknown injuries. Firefighters and EMS from AMR helped extricate the man to the emergency room of the hospital. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was called to the scene to investigate.
(Westport, CT) On Wednesday, September 6th , the Westport Police Department was notified of a threat made in an online gaming chat room in late August. The individual threatened violence at a school near his home on September 8 th . The Federal Bureau of Investigation traced the threat back to a Westport public school student. The student’s parents were notified and were cooperative with investigators. At no time did the youth have access to any weapons. The student was interviewed the F.B.I. and Westport investigators and has since been charged with 53a-181 Breach of Peace 2 nd and 53a-62 Threatening 2nd .
The Westport Police Department has been working closely with Westport Public School administrators and we are confident the safety of students is not in jeopardy. Additionally, the school administration will be addressing the issue and following up with appropriate disciplinary action.

9:11pm–#Bridgeport CT– A possible home invasion entered an apartment at 850 Hancock Avenue. Two people with guns entered the apartment and took the victim’s rent money according to radio reports. The suspects fled in a red vehicle.

Connecticut State Troopers were patrolling highways and roads in Connecticut over the 2017 Labor Day weekend. During this enforcement period, troopers utilized both traditional and non-traditional patrol cars. The enforcement period started at 12:01 a.m. on 09/01/17 and ran until 11:59 p.m. on 09/05/17. Troopers were focused on drunken driving violations, aggressive drivers, distracted drivers and speeding. Sobriety

5:39pm–#Bridgeport CT– Police received a number of calls for a black Jeep Liberty striking cars near the crossroads in the 2000 block of East Main Street and the Jeep fled the scene. Additional calls were made for the same Jeep striking vehicles on York Street. Police have located the Jeep abandoned with a missing wheel behind the condos on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Here are the details on the pursuit and manhunt we were first to report to you as it was happening:
#Fairfield CT– At 4:34pm on 09/03/2017 while conducting Motor Vehicle Enforcement at Exit 19 in Southport, Officers attempted to stop a Dodge Neon with a Stolen License plate. The vehicle fled a short distance (.3 miles) and the sole occupant/operator fled from the moving vehicle which drove across two lawns causing damage and came to rest at a shrub/mailbox on Osborne Lane. K9 Officer Kaesmann and Maverick tracked the suspect through several yards and subsequently located the subject hiding in a side yard on Daves Lane. The suspect was apprehended by K9 Maverick and suffered minor puncture wounds to his buttocks and hand. Suspect was taken into custody and transported by AMR to St. Vincent’s Hospital where he was treated and released. In the suspect vehicle, Officers located several packages of heroin, tools, jewelry, ski masks, latex gloves, a gun cleaning kit and a locked black sentry safe in the trunk of the vehicle.
The arrestee was identified as: Andre Genest (DOB 3/9/1989), of Maple St. in Bridgeport CT. Criminal Charges: 53a-167a Interfering /Resisting Arrest, 21a-279(a) Possession of Narcotics, 53a-64 Reckless Endangerment 2 nd Degree. Motor Vehicle Charges: 14-223(b) Engaging Police in Pursuit, 14-147a Theft of Plates, 14-222 Reckless Driving, 14-224 Evading Responsibility, 38a-371 No Insurance.
Total bond for criminal and M/V charges set at $5,100. Andre Genest is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on 09/11/2017.
11:32pm–#Bridgeport CT– A man has left his mother on the side of the highway on I-95 southbound near exit 27A. The woman speaks only Spanish so an officer from Bridgeport who speaks Spanish has also been dispatched.
10:39pm–#Fairfield CT– I don’t normally report on suicide attempts but a condo building at the Evergreen Condos at
354 Knapps Highway have been evacuated due to high carbon monoxide levels. According to radio reports, a person closed the garage (garages are under each condo) placed a note on the dashboard and left his car running in an attempt to take his life. Neighbors noticed and attempted to free the man while first responders were on their way. Firefighters are reporting high carbon monoxide levels in the building and are ventilating.
