On August 8 th , 2017, the victim of this incident came to the Westport Police Department to report she was sexually assaulted the previous day. The victim explained that the assault took place at the Westport Inn by a man she was having an online relationship with. The male suspect, identified as Ashwin Mathur, age 23 of Stamford, CT, told the victim that he was a police officer. On the night of the incident, the victim reported that Mathur was wearing a badge when he arrived to pick her up. Westport Police Detectives investigated the incident and interviewed both the suspect and the victim. #Bridgeport CT-- It is with a heavy heart to report that Bridgeport Police Sergeant Jessica Tilson has passed away from cancer. September of 2012 we reported on a fundraiser held for her. At the time we reported that Tillson was cancer-free for five years, but doctors said the disease has returned and has been found in her lungs, abdomen and lymph nodes, and she was undergoing chemotherapy. 9:38pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Multiple police officers working the Bluefish game traffic witnessed a road rage incident which caused a multi-car accident at South Frontage and Lafayette Street. One officer gave chase but was bit by the suspect. The man was arrested.

UPDATE: The victim is identified as 17-year-old Nagee Crowder of Fairfield CT. After Crowder was transported to the hospital, resuscitative efforts continued until 8:10pm, at which time St. Vincent's medical staff pronounced Crowder dead. Witness accounts stated that several juveniles were swimming in Perry’s Mill Pond. Crowder was observed jumping into the water off of a paddleboard and when his friends saw him in distress they made attempts to help but were unable to save him.
