Bridgeport, CT- Mayor Joe Ganim, Senator Richard Blumenthal and Bridgeport Fire Chief Richard Thode announced today that the Fire Department has been awarded two separate Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants totaling $219, 091. The first award was in the amount of $152,176 to be used for an Operation and Safety training program for the cities firefighters. The second grant was in the amount of $66,915 to support the purchase of a Cascade System used for filling the firefighter’s air tanks, replacing the current, dated, 34 year old system currently used by the department. “Being awarded these two grants by FEMA is enormously beneficial to not only our Fire Department but to the citizens of Bridgeport,” said Mayor Ganim.…
Fairfield Public Library Book Sale
The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library will be having their Beach Read Book Sale Tuesday, June 13 through Monday, June 19. The sale will be held at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road, during regular library hours. A wide selection of books, CDs and DVDs for adults and children will be specially priced, and the selection will be regularly updated throughout the sale. Only cash payments will be accepted for purchases made at this sale. The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library raise money to support Library programs such as One Book One Town, Soundwaves concerts, the Kershner Gallery, Author Luncheons, Mini Golf, and Children’s programs. 5/31/2017--12:12pm--#Bridgeport CT--Yesterday, Bridgeport Police responded to a serious collision at 557 Harral Avenue where a 2003 blue Acura sedan veered into pedestrians walking in front of Junco's restaurant and continued pinning two children and an adult against the establishment's wall. There was no skid marks observed. Two children and a female adult were transported to Bridgeport Hospital via AMR medics. One child, 8 yrs, suffered compound fractures to the legs.
