Governor Applauds President Shortening Prions Sentences

#HARTFORD, CT – Press Release--Governor Dannel P. Malloy today applauded an announcement by President Barack Obama that he is commuting the sentences of 46 men and women convicted of nonviolent drug offenses who received harsh sentences disproportionate to their crimes.  President Obama noted that overly-harsh sentencing for nonviolent offenses foment a cycle of permanent punishment, making it even harder for those to re-enter society.   “These men and women were not hardened criminals, but the overwhelming majority had been sentenced to at least 20 years.  Fourteen of them had been sentenced to life for nonviolent drug offenses, so their punishments didn’t fit the crime,” President Obama said in a video released on the White House Facebook page.  “I believe that…

UPDATE:  The exact address was 13 Fairview Avenue where 50 year old Jeffrey Somley allegedly pointed a gun at a neighbor. The area was surrounded by police and he surrounded without incident. The Town of #Westport is seeking rising sophomores and adult volunteers to join its Youth Commission for 2015-2016. The Youth Commission is responsible for promoting the positive development of all youth in their families, schools, community, and among their peers. The Commission assesses the needsand interests of young people in Westport, encouraging programs, and developing resources to respond to these needs. The Commission meets monthly throughout the school year. Fairfield News: CVS Employees Save Senior From Scam

11:31am–#Fairfield CT– How about some likes for Teresa and Amer at the CVS at 1968 Black Rock Turnpike (store 1912) for saving a senior from a lottery scam.    A senior citizen went to the store to get a $900 money order.  He ran into some difficulties navigating the MoneyGram machine and asked employee Teresa for some help.  Teresa recognized his need for the money order as a scam and called her manager Amer over.  They convinced the man of that it was a scam and to report it to Fairfield Police which he did.  The man did not want to be identified.  GREAT JOB Teresa and Amer! ¿Qué tal unos gustos para Teresa y Amer en los CVS en…

1:52am--#Bridgeport CT--Prayers for the mother and child.  EMS was called to the ladies room at Walgreen's on North and Main Street for a possible child birth or miscarriage.  There is blood everywhere according to radio reports.  No child or fetus was found.   A black woman in a white top was seen running down Tom Thumb Street.  I doubt I will get any updates on this tonight.
