4:45am--#Fairfield CT-- The alarm at the Inn at Fairfield Beach sounded first at 4:45am and the Seagrape's alarm sounded two minutes later at 4:47am on Reef Road. Fairfield firefighters were quick on scene and reported smoke in the back of the Seagrape. They quickly called for more firefighters and called for mutual aid from Westport and Bridgeport to cover their empty firehouses. It was hard to determine the extent of the damage but the Seagrape was filled with smoke and firefighters were seen in the back of the cafe as first reported. 4:12am--#ctfire--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters were very quick on the scene of a porch fire at 458 East Avenue preventing the fire from extending into the home. Firefighters found on arrival heavy fire on the first floor porch. Firefighters were able to quickly hook a fire hose to their trucks to quickly knock down the fire. Additional hoses were hooked to the hydrants on the road but their quick actions kept the fire confined to the porch. The fire did not appear to extend into the home.
