#West Haven CT--We have been following a possible murder suicide on Peck Avenue since around 5:30pm Friday night. The medical examiner has just removed the last body around 1:15am. Earlier 4 dogs (alive) were removed from the home. No family members have arrived on the scene even at this late hour. She says it is on video surveillance. Governor Announces Effort to Reduce Standardized Testing In Public Schools

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the administration is taking two actions to help reduce the time Connecticut students spend taking standardized tests. In a letter to U.S. Department of Education (USED) Secretary Arne Duncan, the Governor asked for USED to consider how the number of high-stakes exams in Grade 11 could be reduced under existing federal law. In the letter, the Governor writes, “I am eager to explore solutions for the students who may be our most over-tested: our eleventh graders.” One potential avenue for alleviating the burden on the eleventh grade would be to examine whether a college entrance exam, such as the SAT, could satisfy the federally mandated high school exam.
