Bridgeport News: School Supplies Giveaway
Today, Mayor Bill Finch will join students and community leaders to help distribute backpacks and school supplies to third to sixth graders as part of the City’s Lighthouse Summer Program. Thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous donor, 1,200 Bridgeport students will have a brand new backpack full of school supplies. “In Bridgeport, we’re making smart investments in the future, ensuring our kids are prepared to attend college and compete for 21st century jobs. That’s why the Lighthouse Program is so important. It’s giving kids across Bridgeport a safe after school learning environment, and providing kids the tools they need to succeed.” In addition to the backpack and school supply distribution, Tuesday’s event will also include outdoor activities with students.…
