Youth Commission Seeks Nominees For Community Service Award

Human Services Director Barbara Butler has announced that the Westport Youth Commission is seeking nominations for the annual James S. Bacharach Service to the Community Award. “All qualified Westport high school seniors are eligible for this award,” said Butler. “This honor, given to one or more Westport high school seniors, recognizes their significant community service contributions in our town.” Citations have been given annually since 1989 as a tribute to the late James S. FAIRFIELD TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STATE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSISTANCE ACT PROGRAM

  The Town of Fairfield, through its Office of Community and Economic Development, is again soliciting program proposals from municipal agencies and community non-profit organizations for funding consideration under the State’s Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) program. This program allows businesses to claim a State tax credit for cash contributions made to qualifying community programs conducted by tax exempt or municipal agencies. The types of community programs that qualify for the NAA tax credit program include, but are not necessarily limited to: energy conservation; employment and training; child care services; neighborhood assistance; substance abuse; open space acquisition; crime prevention programs and affordable housing development.
