Couch fire should have been much worse

10:29pm--#Bridgeport CT--A quick thinking homeowner realized that his couch was on fire and quickly brought it outside to keep it from spreading to the rest of the house at 1209 Wood Avenue.   Firefighters were quick to the scene and reported wood burning in the front of the home.  Smoke remained in the home and firefighters ventilated the structure.  Neighbor and witness  Jackie whom I had the pleasure of meeting tonight said the homeowner was a big man who had no problem removing the couch on his own.  There were no reported injuries.

Fire in Bridgeport

4pm ish--A fire broke out in a house on Ruth Street (upper Park Avenue).  John Cotter from Nutmeg Adjusters was on scene and confirmed the fire to us.  The fire was large enough that Red Cross helped relocate the residences.  Apparently this fire went under everyone's radar, one of our scanners was turned down, and other media I spoke with didn't catch it either.  Once I discovered the scanner was turned down I heard the firefighters say they were waiting for the Red Cross to arrive.  If anyone has photos of the fire please post it on our Facebook wall.
