UPDATE: Two firefighters were injured, one transported to the hospital for unknown injuries. 2021-03-18@10:18pm-- Firefighters were dispatched to Academy Road for a structure fire. They found the house fully engulfed in flames. Two residents were treated for smoke inhalation. After a while the firefighters were evacuated from the home for a defensive operation. The fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the blaze.

Bridgeport News: Homicide

On March 17, 2021 at approximately 5:24 pm, the Bridgeport Police Department Patrol Division responded to the 100 block on Union Avenue on a report of shots fired.  Officers located a victim suffering from multiple gun-shot wounds at 100 Blackstone Street.  Medics were called and, with the assistance of police, quickly transported the victim to Bridgeport Hospital.  The victim, a 22-year-old Bridgeport man, later died at Bridgeport Hospital.  The Patrol Division has secured a large crime scene in the 100 block of Union Avenue and at 100 Blackstone Street.  The Detective Bureau has responded and taken charge of the investigation. #Westport CT--On February 12, 2020, Westport Police officers responded to a local gas station on areport that an individual allegedly made a purchase with a counterfeit $100.00 bill. The gasstation’s manager stated that the suspect paid for $10.00 worth of gas with a $100.00 bill andthen left the area. FREEZE FOR EVERSOURCE RATES

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) urged the Connecticut Public Utility Regulatory Authority (PURA) to reject the three rate hike proposals made by Eversource, and instead impose a fourth option upon the utility – no increase in utility rates for Connecticut’s electricity customers. Eversource has unconscionably presented PURA with three rate hike options, claiming they under-recovered almost $20 million during 2020, while making over $1.2 billion profits – an increase of 34% over 2019. All three options would result in a 12% increase for Connecticut rate payers.
