  1. Just want to clarify what actually transpired with my brother David Roman, Sr. yesterday afternoon in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

David, Sr. is a very kind soul who spends his time refurbishing things and giving them away to the those in need.

As a teenager, he was an expert in reconditioning bicycles and made them look like new! The Schwinn bike in his driveway must have been in pretty good shape because David witnessed a male and a female exchanging his reconditioned bike for theirs! He may very well have been on the way to give it to a child as I cannot think of any other reason for it having been in his driveway.

David, Sr. proceeded to get on the bike THEY LEFT and chased THEM down to the Hollow area of Bridgeport by Madison Avenue. Like many of us, he forgets his age. Think I probably would have done the same!

According to the street cameras, the male perpetrator proceeded to get by David’s side and knock him off the bike while it was still in motion. David was dragged and suffered injury to his brain when his head hit the cement sidewalk.

He was treated like a “John Doe” because the only things he had in his pockets were candies that he always carries for the kids in the neighborhood and his cell phone. The police used his cell phone to call our nephew, Jeff Roman, to come and identify him as he was left in a pool of blood and unconscious. Jeff initially thought it was a prank as what was the likelihood of his 71 year old uncle being on a bike?

Kudos to the City of Bridgeport Police Department who apprehended the female! She is now in lockdown. They know who the second perpetrator is and will apprehend him shortly!

Thank you, Sgt. Giselle Doszpoj for all of your help!

David is now fighting for his life in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Bridgeport, Ct. He is in the Intensive Surgical Care Unit and is in critical condition and on life support.

Your prayers and well wishes for the entire Roman family are greatly appreciated. It is in times like these, that we need to unite and pray for intervention from our mighty Lord and Savior! I believe in miracles!
