(Bridgeport, CT – Sept. 12, 2013) – A city man was arrested this morning on charges stemming from a car break-in and police pursuit earlier this month.

Sgt. John Gale and Officer Chris Smith arrested Peter Marino, 40, at 3004 Madison Ave. at 12:30 a.m. Marino was out on bail in connection with a similar incident in Trumbull.

The Bridgeport case stems from a Sept. 1 incident. Officer Brian Pisanelli was on patrol at about 1:30 a.m.when he heard a car alarm sounding behind 3850 Main St.

As Pisanelli investigated, Marino sped off in a Toyota Corolla and led police on a chase onto Route 8/25 and onto Interstate 95 through Stratford and into Milford.   On several occasions, Marino swerved toward police cars in an effort to make officers crash. The pursuit was called off for safety reasons.

Police were able to obtain a license number and Gale got a clear look at the suspect. Police returned to Main Street and discovered that the motorist had tried to steal the car there.

On Sept. 4,  Gale and other officers assisted Trumbull police who were looking for a motorist who led them on a chase earlier. They developed information that he was at 3004 Madison Ave. and police found him hiding in the couch. Gale immediately recognized Marino as the driver from the Sept. 1 incident.

Gale secured a warrant charging Marino with third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary, criminal attempt at third-degree larceny, interfering with police, engaging police in pursuit and criminal attempt at assault on a police officer. Bond was set at $25,000.
