#Bridgeport, CT – Dec. 9, 2013 – A motor-vehicle stop led to two arrests and the seizure of cocaine.  On Saturday, Officers Anthony Caiazzo and Keith Hanson pulled over a vehicle in the area of Boston Avenue and Sheridan Street. The driver of the vehicle couldn’t provide a valid insurance card or valid registration but did provide a valid Connecticut pistol permit. He told police he was in possession of a weapon.

The driver, Pedro Lopez, 34, of Bridgeport, was removed from the car. While patting him down, police recovered from his pants pocket a baggie containing what appeared to be cocaine. Lopez acknowledged it was “coke” and stated that it belonged to him. Police also recovered a handgun.

The passenger, Jessica Oquendo, 38, of Bridgeport, also was removed from the car and a female officer was called to pat her down. When Officer Trevor Niestemski asked if she had any contraband in her possession, she reached in the front of her pants and retrieved a small coin bag that contained eight small baggies that contained what appeared to be crack cocaine. The items seized from both suspects later tested positive for cocaine.

Lopez was charged with possession of narcotics and bond was set at $1,500.  Oquendo was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell and bond was set at $2,500.

The handgun and drugs were logged in to the evidence room.
