Mayor Finch Declares Snow Emergency for 5 p.m. this evening Alternate side of the street parking rules in effect BRIDGEPORT, CT (December 13, 2013) – Due to the projected winter storm, Mayor Bill Finch has declared a snow emergency in the City beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 13. During a snow emergency, residents must move their cars off posted Snow Emergency streets or be subject to fines and towing. Food World Opens in Bridgeport

Mayor Bill Finch will celebrated and cut the ribbon to reopen the Food World Supermarket at 345 Huntington Turnpike at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 13. The newly refurbished 17,000-square foot store is a full service grocery featuring a full line of deli products, bakery and an extensive produce section. The store will employ about 60 employees. “We have worked very hard to improve access to healthy food options for residents in neighborhoods throughout the city, including opening four farmers markets, 20 school gardens, an urban farm on Reservoir Avenue. Large Police Presence at Stratford Schools?

2:50am--#Stratford CT--In what sounded like roll call on the Stratford Police radio channels turned out to be assignments for officers to report to all Stratford Schools. For the first half hour at least. December 14th marks the anniversary of Sandy Hook. Officers assigned to the schools are there for only the first half hour while students are being dropped off. It is uncertain if the morning shifts will maintain the presence all day or just for parents to see during drop off and pick up.
