Human Services Director and Police Chief Announce “Play by the Rules” Schedule

Westport Human Services Director Barbara Butler and Westport Police Chief

Dale Call announce the scheduling of the “Play By The Rules” program for 6th-8th grade

students in Westport. “Play By The Rules” is an award winning program designed to

teach law to youth, to develop their sense of civic responsibility and provide them with

the tools they need to prevent crime, save lives and build safer communities. The 9-

week program, a collaboration between Westport Youth Services and the Westport Police

Department, will be held at Toquet Hall on Wednesdays after school, 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

from Mar. 5, 2014 – May 7, 2014.

The program will be facilitated by staff from Westport Youth Services and the

Westport Police Department as part of the continuing efforts to foster the healthy and

positive relationship between local students and the police. Through engaging activities

and discussion, students will have an opportunity to increase their knowledge of the

law and recognize their shared responsibility in helping to make Westport a wonderful

community for everyone.

Space is limited and students will be enrolled on a first come, first served

basis. To register or if you have questions regarding the program, please contact Kevin

Godburn at kgodburn@westportct.gov or 203-341-1155.
