#Bridgeport, Conn. (Jan. 2, 2015) – Two men are in custody today following a possible home invasion in the Mill Hill neighborhood.

An incident was reported at 11:19 a.m. Police received information from the victim that he heard a knock at his door and, at the same time, footsteps on the stairs in his Ogden Street Extension home.  The suspects were in custody a short time later.

The victim stated he opened his door slightly and that one suspect pushed his way into the apartment.

A second suspect emerged and during the ensuing struggle the victim cut one of the suspects on the arm with a blade. Both suspects ran out of the house and attempted to flee in a Ford 150 pick-up truck. As the suspects fled, the victim slashed two tires on the passenger side of the truck.

That information was relayed to police dispatchers, and officers in the area began searching for the truck. Police, meanwhile, received additional information from the community about a similar vehicle driving erratically.

Police in the area observed a male entering a nearby coffee shop holding his arm in a sweatshirt. He was detained and later identified by the victim as one of the assailants.
Police then located the pick-up and the second suspect at a nearby automotive store that sells tires.

It has not yet been determined if the victim knew his assailants.

“This remains an active investigation, and our patrol officers and detectives did outstanding work,” said Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. “We are investigating the circumstances to determine what led up to this. I do know that the quick actions of our officers today made our community safer place.”

Both men were detained and later arrested. Their names are not yet available as police verify their identities.
