On Saturday, October 31 at around 5:45 p.m., police officers responded to a call about shots fired at Marina Village Building #22.   Upon arrival, a police officer observed a few young males sitting on the front steps of building #22. As the police officer approached the young males, the officer heard muffled sound of shots, possibly, projectiles being fired from a pellet gun, paint ball gun, or airsoft rifle.  The police officer observed the building across from Building #22 had its windows broken and was covered by blue paint splatters. Once additional police officers arrived, officers questioned the group of young males and found one male, Carl Brooks, in possession of a one black Winchester air pistol.

 

Officers checked with dispatch and found Brooks was currently out on probation for robbery. One of the conditions for Brooks’s probation was: “Suspect was ordered to not possess any weapons.”  Searching the immediate area officers found more items laying down within the wingspan area of where Brooks was sitting.  Police recovered one black Crosman Vigilante air revolver handgun, one black TAC-5 Recon paintball gun, one black and tan Cronus paintball gun, one black paintball canister with blue paintballs, two black 50 paintball bags containing blue paints balls, and three 12 gram COs jet cartridges. Brooks was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, facsimile of a firearm, criminal mischief, breach of peace, and criminal violation of protective order.  Bond was set at $500,000.
