#Westport Connecticut–At Approximately 9:00 a.m. on February 24, 2016, Officers were dispatched to a Silver Brook Road address on a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The complainant advised that the car was taken from his driveway at some point during the  overnight hours. On March 10, 2016 the vehicle was recovered in Waterbury, CT. The car was then towed back to the Westport Police Department so that Detectives could examine it in the hopes of retrieving physical evidence. One of the items found in the car was an Arizona Iced Tea Can which the complainant said was not in the car at the time of the theft. Fingerprints were “lifted” from this can and sent to the CT State Forensic Lab to see if the prints could be matched to a known individual. On June 1, 2016 the State Lab notified Westport Police that the print lifted from the iced tea can belonged to a male named Stafford Angus. Detectives located and interviewed Mr. Angus. He admitted to being involved in the theft of this vehicle. Mr. Angus also stated that on the night this vehicle was stolen, he and two accomplices entered several unlocked cars in the Silverbrook Rd./Bonnie Brook Rd. area and stole various items. Based upon the information developed during the investigation an arrest warrant was prepared for Mr. Angus. On November 29, 2016, Mr. Angus was taken into custody by the Waterbury Police Department and turned over to Westport Officers. Mr. Angus was charged with: Larceny in the 2 nd Degree for the theft of the motor vehicle, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 1 st Degree, Burglary 3 rd Degree, and Larceny 3 rd Degree. Bond was set at $50,000 with a court date of December 7, 2016.
