While outside, the suspect allegedly forcibly grabbed the complainant’s arms and attempted to kiss her. The complainant was able to break free from his grip, and then she quickly left the area. At the time the initial report was taken the suspect’s identity was unknown but the complainant was able to provide a physical description. Further, the suspect did give his cell phone number to the complainant.
Upon meeting with a Westport Detective, the complainant advised that she had typed the phone number James had given her into Facebook and located a profile for a male named James Radcliffe. The complainant recognized the profile picture as being the same man she had met at Starbuck’s. The Detective conducting the investigation attempted to set up an interview with Mr. Radcliffe, but was advised, through an attorney, that Mr. Radcliffe would not speak with the police. Based upon the evidence, an arrest warrant was completed. Mr. Radcliffe was made aware that there was a warrant for his arrest, and he turned himself in on July 14, 2017. He was charged with Unlawful Restraint and Breach of Peace. Mr. Radcliffe was assigned a court date of July 24, 2017 and released from custody after posting a $2500.00 bond.
