Fallen Officer Scam

Connecticut State Troopers warn of “fallen officer’s fund” scam. Often times scams come disguised as charities, and scammers use recent tragedies or incidents to steal money from people. Today the Connecticut State Police was made aware of a telephone scam where the scammer called seeking donations for a “fallen officer’s fund.” We’ve heard of similar scams in the past, but not recently, and as you may know we have a fallen officer, TFC Kevin Miller. So what better time than now for scammers to bring this scam back to Connecticut. Unfortunately for the scammer, but fortunately for the rest of us, he called a Connecticut State Trooper. Stratford News: Rooming House Fire

#Stratford CT--Just before 3 AM today, April 4, 2018, the Stratford Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in a bedroom located at 259 Jackson Avenue. The fire gutted one room in a rooming style house. Firefighters arrived to find a room within the ranch style home to be engulfed with fire and occupants were evacuating. Under the command of Assistant Chief Camperlengo, the Fire Crews were able to contain the fire to the room of origin and had it under control within 20 minutes. The fire resulted in one (1) occupant to be transported to a local hospital for unspecified fire-related injuries and affected the living conditions of all six rooms. Westport Police Awards

#Westport CT--On Wednesday, March 28th , Officers Samuel Sabin and David Scinto were honored by the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut (PCAC) at the Meritorious Dinner held at the Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange, CT. Officers Sabin and Scinto were presented with awards for meritorious service above and beyond what is normally expected of law enforcement personnel in performance of their duties. They were two of eight officers recognized at the ceremony. Officer Sabin received the Meritorious Service Award for his quick and decisive life-saving actions taken on April 24, 2017 when he rescued an elderly man, who was unable to assist himself, from a burning house without regard for his own peril.
