Westport, CT - Department of Human Services Director Elaine Daignault announced today that Positive Youth Development and collaborating partners, will host a free community presentation on October 24th at 7PM at Westport Town Hall Auditorium on parenting called “Delay Your Gray” by Liz Driscoll Jorgensen, CADC of Insight Counseling and Newport Academy. Liz Jorgensen will discuss parenting an adolescent with a focus on recognizing the difference between typical developmental stages and other behaviors of concern.  Her presentation addresses timely topics for parents of all ages including: how to set effective limits with technology, socializing, sexuality, and much more! #Stratford CT-- Here is a police press release regarding the shooting in Stratford we were first to report: Davonte Whitehurst age 19 of Bridgeport was arrested in Stratford for several charges stemming from an argument at 445 Wiklund Avenue. At approximately 1045pm on October 20th Officers responded to a report of an assault and shots fired on Wiklund Avenue. The caller stated that someone had been shot at the residence.   The investigation determined that Whitehurst had shot a male victim in the leg after a brief verbal argument. The victim is the ex-boyfriend of the girl that Whitehurst was visiting. The victim showed up at the residence, uninvited and possibly started the confrontation. Whitehurst fled the scene on foot…

Bridgeport News: Jet Belly Lands At Sikorsky Airport

4:30PMish-- #Stratford CT--#Bridgeport CT-- A jet was forced to belly land after its landing gears would not come down.  The jet circled the area to burn off fuel.  First responders from both Bridgeport and Stratford converged at the airport located at 1000 Great Meadow Road.  The airport is run by the city of Bridgeport on land in Stratford.  The jet made a perfect landing on the runway with sparks and flame trailing behind it but there was no fire once the aircraft came to a stop.

Bridgeport News: Cop Talks Man Out Of Setting Himself On Fire

5:51pm--#Bridgeport CT-- How about some likes for Sergeant Melody Pribesh who talked a man out of setting himself on fire.  Moments were very tense at Read Street as a twenty-year-old man sat in his SUV and was pouring lighter fluid on himself threatening to light himself on fire.  Sergeant Pribesh was able to talk him out of it and the man is now getting the help he needs.  Way to go Sergeant Pribesh!   [caption id="attachment_70139" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Sergeant Melody Pribesh (back to the camera) talked a man out of setting himself on fire inside the SUV.[/caption]
