State Police Update:

On Wednesday night in Trumbull, a Norwalk man named Daniel Demichael, 34, lost his life in a collision between his Jeep and a merging Toyota Supra on Route 8, as reported by state police.

A child in the back seat of the Jeep suffered minor injuries in the incident. The crash happened around 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday in the southbound lanes of Route 8 near Exit 8.

According to the investigation, Demichael was driving his 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in the right lane of Route 8. At the same time, a driver from Bridgeport in a 2021 Toyota Supra was merging onto Route 8 from the southbound side of the Merritt Parkway’s Exit 52 entrance ramp.

The collision occurred as the Supra merged into the right lane, impacting Demichael’s Jeep. This caused Demichael to lose control, crossing the left lane and colliding with the center median of the highway.

The Jeep then collided with a metal beam guardrail, continued through the barrier, and Demichael was ejected from the vehicle, according to state police.
