Bridgeport Police are investigating the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Johnny L. Nesmith, who was found outside Building 21 at the P.T. Barnum housing complex shortly after 1:00 a.m. Sunday. Police said Nesmith was struck multiple times and later pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital, marking the city’s sixth homicide of the year.

The shooting happened hours after a P.T. Barnum residents reunion was held across the street, and police said a crowd was nearby when the gunfire occurred. Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward and contact Detective Laura Azevedo-Rasuk at (203) 581-5235.
