Environmental Testing to Begin April 6 at Fairfield Fill Pile Site

The Town of Fairfield has engaged the engineering firmWeston & Sampson to begin environmental testing at the fill pile (aka former Aggregate RecyclingFacility) starting April 6, 2026, and continuing through the third week of May. Geotechnical crews willbe on site to conduct groundwater testing, investigate sink holes and drill into existing wells toevaluate potential environmental impacts. The Town is following a plan that has been reviewed by theConnecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) and the U.S.Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and will help inform decision making on remediationoptions.Crews will be on the pile with GeoProbe rigs, Hollow Stem Auger (HAS) rigs, Excavators, andgroundwater monitoring wells, collecting soil and groundwater samples to investigate the materialshistorically deposited in the fill…

Distracted Driving High Visibility Enforcement CampaignThe Norwalk Police Department is partnering with the Connecticut Department of Transportation in recognition of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month this April.From April 1 through April 30, officers will conduct targeted enforcement efforts focusing on drivers who violate Connecticut’s hand-held mobile electronic device laws. Connecticut law prohibits the use of any hand-held mobile electronic device while operating a motor vehicle. Fairfield Police Arrest Man in Connection with December Overdose Death Fairfield, CT — The Fairfield Police Department has arrested Connor Dushay, 22, of Milford, in connection with a December 2025 overdose death in Fairfield. On 12/27/2025, Fairfield Police responded to a residence on Mill Plain Road for a report of an unresponsive male. Despite lifesaving efforts, the individual was later pronounced deceased. An investigation conducted by Fairfield Police detectives determined that the death was the result of acute intoxication due to the combined effects of cocaine, fentanyl, and alcohol. Through the course of the investigation, detectives developed evidence that Dushay had supplied narcotics to the victim prior to the overdose and tampered with evidence at the scene.
