DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport’s 11th Homicide

On October 20, 2024, around 11:20 a.m., Bridgeport Police responded to a report of a person shot on the 200 block of Goddard Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Jahseim Cherry, 22, of New Haven, later succumbed to his injuries, marking Bridgeport’s 11th homicide of the year. Homeowner Shoots Back

Stratford Police said in a statement: "Patrol Officers responded to 277 Burritt Avenue, at approximately 0430 hours, on report of adisturbance.Upon arrival, Officers determined that the homeowner had exchanged gunfire with at leasttwo suspects who may have been attempting to steal one of his vehicles that were parked inhis driveway.Several gunshot rounds, fired by the suspect(s) hit the homeowner’s residence.There are no reported injuries at this time.The suspects fled the area in an unknown vehicle.Detective Mike Panton is conducting this investigation.Anyone with information about this incident can contact him @ (203) 385-4143 ormpanton@townofstratford.com." Structure Fire

Firefighters were called to a porch fire on Sixth Street. Witnesses told me it started on the 3rd floor of the back porch, quickly spreading. Firefighters were able to get the upper hand despite stiff winds fan the flames. Two Shot In Ansonia

On October 26, 2024 at about 2:30 A.M. the Ansonia Police Department responded to 130 Father Salemi Drive, the Saint Sebastian Club, for a report of a shooting. Officers first on scene found a 27-year-old male Ansonia resident that had been shot multiple times in the torso. The male was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition. During the investigation a second male gunshot victim was found, he was shot once in the buttocks.
