DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Governor Malloy’s Portrait Inveiled

#HARTFORD, CT – The official state portrait of Governor Dannel P. Malloy was unveiled during a ceremony today at the Museum of Connecticut History that was attended by the Governor, First Lady Cathy Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, family members and friends, administration officials, and former and current staff members. Commissioning a portrait of each outgoing governor as that person is completing his or her duties in office is a longstanding tradition in Connecticut that dates back to the early 1800s.  Since 1910, this collection has been on public display at the museum’s Memorial Hall, which is located inside of the State Library and Supreme Court building in Hartford. Fairfield News: 2014 Suspect In Home Invasion, Strangulation, Sexual Assault In Custody

#Fairfield CT--On September 1, 2014, at approximately 3:00am a Home Invasion occurred in the Town of Fairfield involving a private residence occupied by female college students. The victim, who was the lone occupant of the home at the time, was awakened by the suspect, beaten, sexually assaulted, and strangled to the point of unconsciousness. After an intensive investigation, to include a scientific examination of physical evidence, the subject below has been positively identified as the person responsible for the attack, and an arrest warrant affidavit was signed for his arrest. Stratford News: Domestic Arrest Leads To Other Charges

Christopher Fulton age 52 of Stratford was arrested following a domestic dispute at his residence. During the incident, Fulton verbally argued with his girlfriend. After the argument became physical Fulton made statements that he was going to kill his girlfriend and her cat. The female victim was able to lock herself in a room and call for police assistance. Fulton who had fled the scene prior to police arrival was arrested in Fairfield with the assistance of the Fairfield Police Department. He was taken into custody without incident.  A firearm and ammunition were seized by officers at the residence. Bridgeport News: Police Have Strong Lead In Homicide of 12 Year Old Boy

#Bridgeport News: Police say they have a person of interest and expect an arrest soon in the shooting death of a 12 year old boy. Earlier today Mayor Joseph Ganim and Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez visited the grieving family of Clinton Howell who was gun downed in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night around 9pm. Perez said the boy was not the intended target. Captain Brian Fitzgerald said the boy was shot in the chest in what he described as a “unsurvivable, grave wound to the chest. Shelton Scores Big In Cheer Competition

How about some likes for a good news story?  Several local cheer and dance teams traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Amercian Youth Cheerleading (AYC) National Championships.  Each championship team would not only earn bragging rights but also blue championship jackets.  The Shelton Lady Vikings sent three cheer teams to Orlando.  The Bridgeport Charge captivated the audience and are Dance Division 18 winners.    Other winners were the Ansonia Coppers and the Monroe Lions.  Congratulations to all the competed!
