DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Stratford News: Child Pornography Arrest

#Stratford CT--On 10-04- 2017 Dylan Quinn age 25 of Garrison New York turned himself in to officers at the Stratford Police Department as the result of a warrant issued for his arrest. The investigation started in May of 2017 when police detectives were notified of possible child pornography activity in this town. Detectives from the Stratford Police Youth Bureau were able to determine that Quinn had contacted a minor in this town and solicited pornographic material. The investigation and warrant were completed on September 27 th and Quinn surrendered to authorities as a result. Westport News: George Lopez Allegedly Steals Bicycle

#Westport CT--On 06/14/17 at approximately 7:30pm, the victim of this incident reported his bicycle stolen from the Saugatuck train station bike rack located on Railroad Place. The victim reported he locked up his bicycle with a lock. Detectives reviewed video surveillance footage from that day and observed a white or Hispanic male remove the lock and ride off on the bicycle. Detectives recognized the suspect to be George Lopez who was previously arrested for the same offense.  Lopez was interviewed but he denied committing the crime. Based on Detectives positively identifying Lopez in the surveillance footage, an arrest warrant was submitted to Norwalk Court. Westport News: Funny Money Arrest

#Westport CT--On Tuesday September 19, 2017 at approximately 3:42pm, patrol units were dispatched to Trader Joe’s, 400 Post Road East, on a complaint that an individual made a purchase using what was identified by store employees as a counterfeit $100.00 bill. The store was alerted to males passing counterfeit bills earlier on this same date at other Trader Joe’s locations in southern Connecticut. The suspect, later identified as Jamel D. Greene, purchased soap with the counterfeit bill, receiving currency in the amount of $88.87 as change. Store staff had seen Greene in the company of at least one other male while in the store, later identified as Patmore Proctor. Store employees were able to provide a description of both suspects…
