DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Structure Fire

https://youtu.be/2QMHLBcumiw Bridgeport Fire Department said in a statement that they were dispatched at 8:20 pm to a structure fire at 48 Alpine St. Heavy fire was encountered on all 3 floors of a 2 ½ story wood frame. The fire was placed under control at 11:35 pm after an extensive overhaul of the building. No civilian injuries were reported at this time, and one firefighter was transported to the hospital for evaluation for non-life-threatening injuries. Red Cross is relocating 2 adults and 3 children. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.

Route 8/25 Northbound Closed

A person jumped to their death from the Congress Street overpass onto the Route northbound lanes according to numerous unconfirmed reports. Police only confirmed that Bridgeport ECC received numerous calls regarding a MVA on route 8 vs. pedestrian.
