State Police Labor Day Weekend Stats
Troopers continue to patrol the highways and roads in Connecticut over this 2016 Labor Day weekend. During this enforcement operation troopers are utilizing both traditional and non-traditional state police vehicles. The enforcement project started at 12:01 a.m. on 9/2/16 and will run through 11:59 p.m. on 9/5/16. Troopers are focusing on drunken driving violations, aggressive drivers, distracted drivers and speeding. Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols were in place over the entire weekend. Police and animal control them back to their home when I arrived. #Westport Fire Receives Grant
WESTPORT, Conn.—The Westport Fire Department has received a $4,000 fire prevention grant from FM Global, a major commercial property insurer. FM Global representative Meaghan Paul presented the award to Chief Andrew Kingsbury, Assistant Chief John Plofkin Jr, and Deputy Chief Robert Kepchar at Westport Fire Headquarters today. The award will be used to assist with pre-fire planning activities in an effort to efficiently collect and track data related to local community buildings. The information will help the department when it responds to an emergency situation.
